After a three-year break, the Europe Youth Top 10 is set to make its long-awaited return to the Palais des Sports de Tours, France. Scheduled for 2025 (3rd to 5th October), the event promises a spectacular show of the Continent’s most talented young table tennis players in the Under 15 and Under 19 categories, for both girls and boys.

This will mark the fifth time Tours has hosted the prestigious competition, following successful editions in 2000, 2014, 2021, and 2022. A cornerstone of the European youth calendar, the tournament’s unique round-robin format guarantees high-level action from start to finish.

Under 19 Boys

In the Boys’ U19 event, Spain’s Daniel BERZOSA, who finished sixth last year, returns as no. one seed this year. Also back are Slovakia’s Samuel ARPAS (7th in 2024) and Belgium’s Tom CLOSSET (9th). Host nation France will field Nathan LAM, part of a promising new generation following in the footsteps of 2024 champion Flavien COTON, alongside Flavio MOURIER and Antoine NOIRAULT. Adding further depth are Germany’s Marcel BLASZCZYK (No. 2 seed), Poland’s Rafal FORMELA (No. 10), and England’s Connor GREEN.

Under 19 Girls

Defending champion Veronika MATIUNINA (Ukraine) headlines the U19 Girls’ field, determined to repeat her 2024 triumph. France enters a strong duo in Leana HOCHART (4th in 2024) and Nina GUO ZHENG (3rd). Romania’s Bianca MEI-ROSU is seeded fourth, followed by Poland’s Natalia BOGDANOWICZ (7th in 2024). Slovenia’s Sara TOKIC (9th) and Portugal’s Matilde PINTO (8th) also return, joined by compatriot Julia LEAL (5th in 2024). Poland will also be represented by Karolina HOLDA, with Czechia’s Veronika POLAKOVA rounding out the list.

Under 15 Boys

Türkiye’s Görkem ÖCAL, who finished fourth in 2024, headlines the U15 seedings. Italy’s Francesco TREVISAN (3rd last year) and Hungary’s Mark GERGELY (5th) return to test their consistency. New challengers include Germany’s Jonas RINDERER, England’s Abraham SELLADO, and Poland’s Jan MRUGALA. Fresh talent comes from Quentin SANDONA (France) and Lukas WANG (Germany), while Hungary’s Lenard SZABO and Türkiye’s Kenan KAHRAMAN complete the field.

Under 15 Girls

In the Girls’ U15 category, Czechia’s Hanka KODETOVA, the reigning champion, returns to defend her crown. Runner-up Koharu ITAGAKI (Germany) enters as the top seed this year. Romania’s Patricia STOICA is third seed, followed by Spain’s Renata SHYPSHA close behind. Austria’s Mariia LYTVYN (9th in 2024) adds valuable depth, joined by Türkiye’s Nil BASARAN, Sweden’s Siri BENJEGARD, and France’s Alexia NODIN. The list is completed by Croatia’s Lana BENKO and Poland’s Wanessa KULCZYCKA.

With defending champions like MATIUNINA and KODETOVA returning, alongside podium finishers from last year eager to improve, the 2025 Europe Youth Top 10 in Tours promises a thrilling showcase of established winners and hungry challengers. The unique round-robin format ensures that every match counts, making this one of the most anticipated youth events on the European calendar.

After three rounds on the opening day of the Europe Youth Top 10 in Tours, France, only Koharu ITAGAKI of Germany managed to preserve an unbeaten record. With three victories, she leads the standings, followed by Alexia NODIN of France and Mariia LYTVYN of Austria, who each suffered one defeat in their opening matches.

The tournament began with surprises right from the start. NODIN, encouraged by the home crowd, stunned no. 3 seed Patricia STOICA of Romania in straight games. Romania’s player then suffered another defeat at the hands of Sweden’s Siri BENJEGÅRD in round two. No. 2 seed Hanka KODET of Czechia started strongly against Croatia’s Lana BENKO, but was later stopped by NODIN in the second round.

The highlight of the day came in round three, when ITAGAKI faced NODIN in a direct battle for the unbeaten lead. The German player prevailed 4–2, confirming her status at the top of the table.

The top seed, however, faced a severe test early on. Poland’s Wanessa KULCZYCKA, a late substitute in Tours, came close to a huge upset in round one. ITAGAKI trailed 1–3 before producing a remarkable comeback to win in seven games. In the second round, she was more convincing, defeating BENKO in straight games.

At the end of the opening day in the Under 15 Boys’ event at the Europe Youth Top 10 in Tours, France, three players remain unbeaten: top seed Görkem ÖÇAL of Turkey, Jan MRUGALA of Poland, and Francesco TREVISAN of Italy.

ÖÇAL confirmed his status as the top favorite by defeating his teammate Kenan KAHRAMAN, France’s Quentin SANDONA, and Lenard SZABO of Hungary.

No. 2 seed Francesco TREVISAN of Italy followed the same path, overcoming SANDONA, SZABO, and Abraham SELLADO of England to finish the day with a perfect record.

One spot below in the seeding, Hungary’s Mark GERGELY started well with a victory in the first round but then fell short against SELLADO in the second.

The day also brought surprises. Germany’s Lukas WANG, who entered the event as a substitute, caused an upset in the opening round by defeating his teammate and no. 5 seed Jonas RINDERER in straight games. However, WANG was stopped in the second round by MRUGALA, who then went on to beat SELLADO and RINDERER, confirming his place among the unbeaten trio.

At the close of day one at the Europe Youth Top 10 in Tours, France, Bianca MEI ROSU of Romania was the only player in the Under 19 Girls’ category to remain unbeaten after three rounds. She secured victories over Portugal’s Matilde PINTO and Julia LEAL, as well as Slovenia’s Sara TOKIC, to finish the day in commanding form.

Behind her, the French duo Nina GUO ZHENG and Leana HOCHART both ended the day with one defeat each.

Top seed Veronika MATIUNINA of Ukraine opened her campaign with a win against Veronika POLAKOVA of Czechia, but was then stopped in round two by GUO ZHENG. Later, struggling with illness, she was unable to continue and conceded four straight 0–11 games to Poland’s Karolina HOLDA, leaving her participation for day two uncertain.

The day was filled with dramatic encounters. In the all-French opening round clash, GUO ZHENG triumphed over HOCHART after a thrilling seven-game battle. HOCHART led 2–0, but GUO ZHENG fought back to win three games in a row. Although HOCHART forced a decider, her teammate proved stronger in the closing stages.

HOCHART herself later produced a comeback in the third round against TOKIC. Trailing 1–3, she leveled the score and then secured victory in the decider to close the day on a high note.

Another tense encounter came in the all-Portuguese duel, where Matilde PINTO edged out Julia LEAL in seven close games to start her campaign.

In the Under 19 Boys’ category at the Europe Youth Top 10 in Tours, France, no. 1 seed Daniel BERZOSA of Spain and France’s Nathan LAM ended day one with flawless records after three rounds.

BERZOSA was in strong form throughout the day, posting victories over France’s Flavio MOURIER, Poland’s Rafal FORMELA, and Czechia’s Stepan BRHEL without major difficulties.

LAM, cheered on by the home crowd, also remained unbeaten with wins over his compatriot Antoine NOIRAULT, Flavio MOURIER, and FORMELA.

The opening round delivered the first upset of the day. England’s Connor GREEN, seeded no. 7, defeated Belgium’s Tom CLOSSET, the no. 5 seed, in a gripping seven-game encounter. CLOSSET recovered quickly, beating Samuel ARPAS of Slovakia and NOIRAULT, while GREEN continued his good run with victories against ARPAS and Marcel BLASZCZYK of Poland. Their later head-to-head clash turned into one of the day’s most exciting battles, filled with momentum swings.

Koharu ITAGAKI of Germany remained unbeaten at the close of day two in the Under 15 Girls’ Singles Event at the Europe Youth Top 10 in Tours, France. Last year’s champion Hanka KODET of Czechia kept the pressure on, but with one defeat against Alexia NODIN of France on the opening day, she sits in third place behind the French representative.

Top seed ITAGAKI continued her perfect run with victories over Siri BENJEGÅRD of Sweden, Nil BASARAN of Turkey, and Mariia LYTVYN of Austria.

NODIN also enjoyed a strong second day. She began with a confident win over Croatia’s Lana BENKO and followed with two more straight-game victories against Poland’s Wanessa KULCZYCKA and Sweden’s BENJEGÅRD.

KODET, holding just one defeat after six rounds, also produced a solid performance. She recorded wins over BASARAN, LYTVYN, and Spain’s Renata SHYPSHA, confirming her place in the chasing pack.

Francesco TREVISAN of Italy has been flawless so far at the Europe Youth Top 10 in Tours, recording six wins from six matches in the Under 15 Boys’ event after two days of play.

The Italian player started day two by surviving a seven-game thriller against Germany’s Lukas WANG, before moving on to more confident wins over Jonas RINDERER of Germany and Jan MRUGALA of Poland.

Turkey’s no. 1 seed Görkem ÖÇAL suffered his first defeat of the tournament, dropping to second position, but remains firmly in contention alongside his teammate Kenan KAHRAMAN.

ÖÇAL endured a dramatic start to the day when he fell to England’s Abraham SELLADO. SELLADO raced to a 3–0 lead before ÖÇAL clawed back to level the match, only for the English player to finish strongly in the decider. Despite that setback, the Turkish star recovered quickly, defeating WANG in straight games and later beating RINDERER in a tight six-set duel. His resilience ensured that he stays in the title race.

Meanwhile, Kenan KAHRAMAN, seeded no. 7, has been one of the surprise stories of the tournament. He edged no. 4 seed MRUGALA of Poland in an epic seven-game battle, saving himself with a 14–12 finish in the decider. He went on to add further victories against Hungary’s Lenard SZABO and Mark GERGELY, proving his growing strength in Tours and establishing himself as a serious contender.

The Under 19 Girls’ competition at the Europe Youth Top 10 in Tours saw a dramatic shift on the second day as top seed and reigning champion Veronika MATIUNINA of Ukraine was forced to withdraw due to illness. With her absence, the focus turned to the new frontrunners: France’s Leana HOCHART and Romania’s Bianca MEI ROSU, both of whom emerged as the strongest contenders for the title after six rounds.

HOCHART, backed by the home crowd, delivered a flawless performance across the day. She overcame Portugal’s Matilde PINTO in four games, cruised past Julia LEAL in straight games, and capped her run with an emphatic 4–0 victory over MEI ROSU in the key showdown of Round 6. With six wins and only one defeat, the French player now leads the standings on countback.

MEI ROSU, meanwhile, continued her excellent form, defeating Veronika POLAKOVA of Czechia and sweeping past Poland’s Natalia BOGDANOWICZ before running into HOCHART in their highly anticipated duel. Despite the loss, the Romanian remains level with her French rival at 6–1, firmly in contention for the title heading into the final rounds.

Elsewhere, Portugal’s Julia LEAL produced one of the surprises of the day, narrowly edging BOGDANOWICZ in seven games in Round 4. France’s Nina GUO ZHENG also stayed in the chase, winning two five-setters before closing with a dominant victory over PINTO.

Top seed Daniel BERZOSA of Spain endured his toughest test yet at the Europe Youth Top 10 in Tours but preserved his unbeaten record after six rounds. Facing Slovakia’s Samuel ARPAS, the Spaniard trailed 1–3 and was forced into a dramatic seventh game. In the decider, BERZOSA saved multiple match points before finally closing the contest 17–15, keeping his perfect 6–0 tally intact.

Earlier in the day, BERZOSA looked composed, sweeping aside England’s Connor GREEN in straight games and defeating Belgium’s Tom CLOSSET 4–1.

Home player Nathan LAM continued in good rhythm. Seeded no. 3, he opened the day with a solid 4–1 victory against Czechia’s Stepan BRHEL, but then suffered his first defeat of the event. England’s GREEN, seeded no. 7, edged him in a pulsating seven-game duel, with the Frenchman unable to convert his chances despite leading 2–1. LAM, however, bounced back in style by overpowering Belgium’s CLOSSET in straight games in the final round, keeping himself firmly in the hunt with a 5–1 record.

Another French contender, Antoine NOIRAULT, has been equally impressive. After a six-game win over ARPAS in Round 4, he added back-to-back victories against Poland’s Rafal FORMELA (4–0) and Marcel BLASZCZYK (4–1). With four wins from six matches, NOIRAULT has climbed into the top three.
